EMGC Working Test

Image
Saturday 13th May saw me take the short trip up the road into Leicestershire for East Midland Gundog Club's first retriever working test of the year. Having been invited to sponsor EMGC and support their events for both field trials and working tests I am always keen to attend if I can, not only to show my support but also because I thoroughly enjoy watching the dogs and handlers at work. There were around forty dogs running across three categories including Puppy, Novice Dog/Novice Handler and Veteran and after a warm welcome and a briefing from test secretary Lesley, the day was under way. The weather kept fine and with some lovely ground at Hall Farm everyone appeared to be having a great time and the day was running like clock work. It was a bonus for me that I was able to help out in the form of a not so glamorous assistant to one of the judges and had the job of throwing dummies. It is a great position to be in as you are up close to the picking area and are able to obser

Ellie Close In July 2016 we welcomed Ellie Close to the Dog & Field team and we are immensely looking forward to supporting and following Ellie’s progress. Ellie, who at the tender age of just 6 years old has already achieved so much with her two Spaniels Meg and Bernie and is sure to be a dog handling star of the future. Having qualified for the Chudleys Junior Gundog Championship Final back in September at The Mid land Game Fair Ellie then went on to run in her first working test held at Chatsworth as part of the Kennel Club Gundog weekend. Ellie ran her Springer Spaniel Meg and they both preformed fantastically achieving a Certificate of Merit. Ellie recently competed at The Scottish Game Fair at the beginning of July and yet again had great success. Ellie and her Spaniels were tested and judged on retrieves on both land and water and shone through winning a 1st and 2nd. It is great to have the opportunity support the next generation of dog handlers and we a

Mulraven Gundogs In November 2014 we were proud to announce our sponsorship of Liam Mulcrow from Mulraven Gundogs. We are pleased to have Liam as an ambassador of Dog and Field. We look forward to supporting Liam on his journey to success. After spending many years trying to find myself, my path finally crossed with a spaniel, since day 1 I have been hooked on everything regarding gundog's, I have hassled many experienced and well established trainers for answers to my questions, to which I must add all have been more than accommodating. My ultimate goal is to qualify my dog for the championship and try to do the unthinkable. Having always played competitive sport I always want to win, it is no different with dogs. I have a long road ahead of me but I have a lot of support from great spaniel folk around me." - Liam Mulcrow To follow Liam please take a look at his website and social media pages. www.mulravengundogs.co.uk www.facebook.com/pages/Mulra
